Sheryl Crow suspects that the benign brain tumor she was diagnosed with late last year was caused by cell phone use, Peoplemagazine reported.
Crow said on the new talk show Katie that doctors have not told her that her tumor was caused by cell phone use, but she has “the theory that it’s possible that it’s related to that. I [used to spend] hours on the old archaic cell phones,” People reported:
Crow, who says the tumor is in a part of her brain near where she often held her phone, says she started to suspect something was wrong when she began spacing out on stage, forgetting lyrics and generally feeling “mushy.”
But is Crow right? Is it a fact that cell phones can cause cancer?
According to numerous studies and even an official classification from the World Health Organization: We’re not totally sure.
These MRI’s show the human skull at three different ages. From the left is an adult, middle is a 10 year old, and right is a 3 year old. The density of your skull at these different ages will allow different amounts of radiation to enter the brain. Scientists have shown this microwave energy can affect the brains activity to learn and disrupts neurological processes for hours after cell phone use.
The Chino Hills, CA community is spear heading protest and possibly legal action against the state and local utilities of California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to allow Southern California Edison (SCE) to place 198 foot tall towers with 500kV transmission lines in a 150 foot easement directly behind their homes and in their backyards.
The community is gathering forces and helping educate each other on not only why it is not aesthetically appealing to have these very large towers near their homes but they are all learning why the amount of EMF or electromagnetic smog near them can cause many health problems like leukemia, emotional problems, skin irritation, and many other forms of cancer and health issues.
Help EMF Science and these other communities combine forces to learn what are the steps we all should take to battle the “powers that be” and create a plan to understand better power line dangers, cell phone tower risks, and cell phone radiation use health risks also.
Contact us or these local communities to see what can be done to prevent unwanted dangerous power line and cell towers from being installed near homes and schools in your neighborhood.
World leading EMF expert professor Olle Johansson finds that the brain tumor issue is a minor thing compared to many other harmful effects. While brain tumors affect a small percentage, other serious effects affect the whole population including genetic damage, sleep disturbances, reduced learning capacity, concentration difficulties and psychological problems.
The Supreme Court of Italy has affirmed a ruling granting worker’s compensation to a businessman who developed a tumor after using a cell phone for 12 years. This is the first time that a high court —in any country— has ruled in favor a link between mobile phone radiation and tumor development.
Innocente Marcolini, a financial manager at an industrial plant in Brescia in northern Italy, used cell and cordless phones for five-to-six hours a day for 12 years. Then one morning ten years ago, Marcolini, who was 50 years old at the time, sensed an unusual tingling in his chin while shaving. He was soon diagnosed as having a benign tumor on the trigeminal nerve, which controls facial muscles and sensations.
Marcolini filed for workers’ compensation alleging that his wireless phones were responsible for the tumor. At first, his claim was rejected. But, in December 2009, the Court of Appeals in Brescia reversed that decision and now, on October 12, Italy’s Supreme Court affirmed the Appeals Court’s ruling. No further appeals are possible.
“Marcolini wants people to know about the health risks associated with cell phone radiation,” Riccardo Staglianó told Microwave News. Staglianó, a reporter for La Repubblica, a major national daily newspaper, chronicled Marcolini’s story in his book on cell phone risks,Toglietevelo Dalla Testa, published earlier this year. The title of the book is hard to translate into English —it’s something like Get It Out of Your Head. Staglianó explained that his book tries to warn the reader not only to keep the phone away from the brain but also to reject the “fake reassurances” from parts of the scientific community that there are no health risks.
Indeed, it’s easy to see the decision as a battle between ICNIRP and ICEMS and their competing views of electromagnetic health hazards. ICNIRP does not recognize any risks associated with long-term, chronic exposures, especially those associated with tumor promotion. Cancer is not a concern, according to ICNIRP. ICEMS, on the other hand, sees large uncertainties and advocates precautionary policies to reduce exposures when possible.
Chemotherapy can damage healthy cells? Say it isn’t so? You don’t need a degree to figure this one out. Poison kills indiscriminately– always has and always will. While damaging healthy cells, chemotherapy also triggers them to secrete a protein that sustains tumour growth and resistance to further treatment. Researchers in the United States made the “completely unexpected” finding they claimed while seeking to explain why cancer cells are so resilient inside the human body when they are easy to kill in the lab.
Only through the forces that have carefully conspired to thwart meaningful advances in cancer research and treatment over the past century has chemotherapy succeeded. In what reality do we live in when cut, poison and burn are the only ways acceptable to treat cancer?
No chemotherapy drug has ever actually cured or resolve the underlying causes of cancer. Even what mainstream medicine consideres “successful” chemotherapy treatments are only managing symptoms, usually at the cost of interfering with other precious physiological functions in patients that will cause side effects down the road. There is no such thing as a drug without a side effect.
They tested the effects of a type of chemotherapy on tissue collected from men with prostate cancer, and found “evidence of DNA damage” in healthy cells after treatment, the scientists wrote in Nature Medicine.
(CBS News) The number of cancer survivors living in the U.S. is expected to surge by one-third come 2022, with about 18 million people expected to survive the disease.
The “Cancer Treatment and Survivorship Facts and Figures” report finds that even though cancer incidence rates are decreasing, the number of survivors is growing due to the aging and growth of the population, as well as improved rates in cancer survival. Currently there an estimated 13.7 million people living in the United States who have survived cancer.
The report is the first of its kind collaboration from the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute. It’s published in the June 14 issue of CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians.
The report showed that in 2012, the three most common cancers among men with a history of the disease were prostate cancer (43 percent of male survivors), colorectal cancer (9 percent), and melanoma (7 percent). As for women, 41 percent of them had breast cancer at some point, 8 percent had uterine cancer, followed by 8 percent reporting that they had colon cancer. Those proportions are expected to be largely unchanged by 2022, the researchers said.
Other notable findings were that about 45 percent of cancer survivors are 70 or older, while only 5 percent are younger than 40 years old. The median age of a patient’s diagnosis was 66.
However children are also affected: The report found there are 58,510 survivors of childhood cancer living in the U.S., and an additional 12,060 children will be diagnosed in 2012.
It has taken nearly 50 years and cost £2.6bn. Now, at last, the Higgs boson particle has been found – and a new chapter in our understanding of the universe can begin.
It was a breakthrough that took almost half a century of deep thought, more than 30 years of painstaking experimentation and a massive £2.6bn machine. Yesterday, scientists said they believed they had found the subatomic particle that confirms our understanding of how the universe works.
Discovering the so-called “Higgs boson” particle would be one of the greatest achievements in science, rivalling the discovery of the structure of DNA in 1953 and the Apollo Moon landings of the 1960s and 1970s. It can explain why some particles have mass, but why others, such as photons of light, do not.
Although the discovery is consistent with such a particle – first postulated half a century ago by the retired British physicist Peter Higgs – scientists at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (Cern) in Geneva stopped short of saying this was definitely what they had found.
Yet such is the degree of exactitude to which they work, they were still able to calculate that the new particle is very near to the “five-sigma” level of significance – meaning that there is less than a one in a million chance that their results are a statistical fluke.
SAN FRANCISCO — A federal judge on Thursday struck down most of a San Francisco ordinance that requires retailers to warn customers about cellphone radiation and its health effects.
U.S. District Judge William Alsup ruled that the required warning is misleading because it implies cellphones are dangerous and unregulated, and he ordered city officials to change the wording on the fact sheet that retailers are required to distribute.
The brochures must include a statement that all cellphones must comply with the Federal Communications Commission’s safety limits regarding radiation emissions, the judge said.
“The overall impression left is that cell phones are dangerous and that they have somehow escaped the regulatory process,” Alsup wrote. “That impression is untrue and misleading, for all of the cell phones sold in the United States must comply with safety limits set by the FCC.”
